Whenever you see a File Uploading symbol, that means that the data is still syncing from the iPad to the website. We upload two files per photo. One is the thumbnail because it is smaller and uploads faster. The other is the full size image. We do this because if the internet connection is poor we still want you to at least receive the thumbnail portion of the image.
This File Uploading icon only appears when data hasn't fully synced. The reason this can take longer than it typically should is because someone will turn off the iPad or put it to sleep before the file has a chance to officially upload. Another possibility is that the iPad was taken out of the wifi range and no longer had a good enough connection to sync up the data. Photos take longer to upload than the actual list so it's possible for our system to view the form as complete even though the file isn't finished uploading. When this happens, that's when you see the File Uploading message.
Here are a few things you can check.
1. Check the top bar of the app.
a. This lets employees know whether or not the iPad is syncing and if the records and files have saved up to our system successfully which should help them to know if this sort of thing is happening.
b. Advise your employees not to turn off, put to sleep or move the iPad until they see Synced Just Now in this top bar.
2. Check of the App in Settings > Transfers > Uploads in Progress. Does it have any uploads in the queue?
We recommend that you never turn the iPads off or put them to sleep. This will give you the best experience possible. One concern however is the iPad charging. What others group have done and seems to work the best is to have a designated charging area for the iPad. Once someone is done using it, it must go back to this area and be plugged in. As long as it is plugged in, you are totally fine to have it in the Jolt App the entire time. This will improve performance greatly for the photos because then the uploading process will never get interrupted.
